Description:
If you’ve recently been promoted or are about to take on your first management role in the construction industry, this 1-hour lunchtime session is the ideal starting point. Specifically designed for professionals working on-site or in construction-related roles, this Power Hour offers practical, no-nonsense advice on stepping confidently into leadership.
In just 60 minutes, you’ll gain real-world insights into managing people on-site, setting clear expectations, giving constructive feedback, and making the shift from skilled worker or technician to team leader or supervisor. This session recognises the unique challenges of managing in a construction environment tight deadlines, complex team structures, high-pressure conditions and focuses on tools and strategies that work in the real world, not just the classroom.
We’ll explore what it means to be an effective leader in construction, how to establish authority without losing approachability, and how to manage teams that are diverse in skills, experience, and communication styles. Topics include motivating your crew, managing under performance, delegating tasks safely and effectively, and fostering a positive site culture.
You’ll also learn how to navigate the tricky balance between being part of the team and being responsible for the team. The session touches on the importance of safety leadership, respect on site, and building trust especially when managing former peers or subcontractors.
This Power Hour is fast-paced, focused, and designed for people who want useful takeaways they can apply immediately. You’ll leave with increased clarity about your role, confidence in your leadership approach, and a toolkit of techniques to help you hit the ground running.
Whether you’re a foreperson, site supervisor, junior engineer, or moving from the tools to team leadership, this session will help you transition smoothly into your new role. Invest one hour, and take the first step in becoming a confident, respected leader in the construction industry.
